Community Description:
On Sunday Sept. 18, 2016, The City of Cambridge Ontario, in partnership with The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada’s Regimental Trust, dedicated a LAV III Monument at the Cambridge (Galt) Armoury. This was part of the RHFC’s 150th anniversary celebrations. This is the first such monument in Ontario and the second in Canada. This monument commemorates the service of approximately 40,000 men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces, including 43 members of the RHFC from the Waterloo Region, who participated in the Afghanistan Mission. The LAV III Monument is symbolic of our military’s most recent contribution plus the loss and sacrifice of 162 Canadians who died in Afghanistan. The funds for this project were raised through the City of Cambridge funding, individual donations and corporate sponsors who provided transport, services in kind, materials and manpower.
