Canada Company began in May 2006, at the height of the Afghanistan conflict, with a pledge to stand shoulder to shoulder with our troops for the sacrifices they make every day.
This program’s aim is to recognize the sacrifice Canada’s military members make in service to our country, and to honour their legacy through the children they have left behind. It includes children of military members who passed away due to PTSD. Eligible children receive $5,000.00 a year, for a maximum of four years, in scholarship for their college or university education.
On August 17th 2023, we held our 16th Annual Scholarship Presentation Ceremony. 25 scholarships were awarded to children of those who died while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). In total 20 post-secondary and 5 post-graduate’ scholarships were awarded. To date, Canada Company has awarded just over $1 million to a total of 83 students from 50 military families.

15th Anniversary Scholarship Ceremony
On August 18th 2022, we held our 15th Annual Scholarship Presentation Ceremony to recognize our 2022 recipients and hear from inspiring guests, including Ron MacLean of Hockey Night in Canada. We were proud to award a total of $114,000 in scholarships to 20 outstanding youth and 2 post-graduate students – each of whom has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of tragedy.
Canada Company Scholarship Recipients – 2021
Our 14th annual Canada Company Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held virtually to recognize our 2021 recipients and remember the ultimate sacrifice their loved ones made serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. We were honoured to hear from retired Canadian Space Agency astronaut Chris Hadfield, General Wayne Eyre, and Chief Petty Officer First Class Gilles Grégoire. In recognition of Janet Russell’s 14 years as the Canada Company’s Scholarship program manager, we launched the Russell Dinner, which will be held annually for scholarship recipients and guests.
The pandemic may have kept us from gathering in person last month, but it couldn’t stop us from holding our 13th annual Canada Company Scholarship Ceremony in virtual format! Each year, Canada Company proudly awards scholarships to children of the men and women who lost their lives in service of our country. This year, special guests General Jonathan Vance, comedian Rick Mercer and Toronto Mayor John Tory joined us virtually as we recognized our outstanding 2020 scholarship recipients, and honoured the ultimate sacrifice their loved ones made while serving Canada.
