In a 4 week campaign ending Sep 15, 2011 Pioneer Energy collected a total of $6,151.32 in customer donations at its ten (10) sites throughout the Quinte region. At the onset of the campaign, Pioneer had hoped to raise $10,000 in customer donations which combined with Pioneer Energy’s corporate match of $10,000 would have generated a total of $20,000 to benefit the Afghanistan Memorial Monument campaign.
Canada Company member HLCol Tim Hogarth (The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry), President and CEO of·Pioneer Energy is pleased to announce that not only will Pioneer match the $6,151.32 in customer donations but will top up the total funds raised and along with Pioneer’s matching donate a total of $20,000 to be given to the Afghanistan Memorial campaign.
In July 2011 Tim, travelled to CFB Trenton to join Mayor John Williams for the launch of a fund-raising campaign to raise $1.5million for the creation of an Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial to honour the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces who were killed while serving in Afghanistan. Set in a park like setting on the beautiful Bay of Quinte and with 8 Wing/Canadian Forces Base Trenton – Canada’s largest Air Force base nearby, the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial will be a fitting tribute not far from where Canadian repatriation ceremonies occur and at the beginning of our fallen soldiers’ journey along the Highway of Heroes, from Trenton to Toronto.
Fellow Canadians are asked to add their support. Donations can be made online at www.afghanistanmemorial.ca or by mailing a cheque made out to:
